To verify which model your integration requested, inspect its configuration and request records, and retain any model information returned by the service. Through an intermediary, check its documented mapping as well. The public homepage currently describes GPT Image 2 generation and editing. OpenAI's release alone does not establish 2.5 access here. How much does GPT Image 2.5 cost?
OpenAI bills API image work using tokens, units used to account for text and image processing. The official API pricing table lists the following standard rates, checked September 8, 2026.

These are upstream token rates, not GPTImage.ai prices per image. The total depends on the request and token usage. Equal rates do not guarantee equal bills for different models or quality settings. Do not use an older model's token estimate as a 2.5 quote; both model pages explicitly exclude 2.5 consumption from the Image 2 calculator.
ChatGPT account limits are a separate question from API costs. GPTImage.ai uses its own credits and plans: consult current pricing for the selected workflow. Existing signup offers should not be treated as a promise of free 2.5 access, and animation is billed separately from image generation.
Three practical workflows to try
These original prompts are untested starting points. Adapt them to the controls your chosen service actually offers. For editing tasks, use source material you have permission to upload and keep the original file available for comparison.
A. Edit a product image
Use this to prepare a product composition with room for a headline. Start with a sharp photo in which the full item and label are visible. Avoid asking the model to reconstruct wording hidden by glare or a cropped edge.
Use the uploaded product photo as the reference. Place the product on a pale stone surface with soft window light. Keep its shape, cap, colors, and all label wording unchanged. Change the background and lighting only. Do not add badges, extra packaging, or new text. Leave space on the right for a headline.
Compare the output at full size with your source. Check every label word, the cap, edge contours, proportions, and reflections. The word “unchanged” expresses your requirement; it does not guarantee preservation. If the package changes, return to the original rather than approving an attractive but inaccurate product photo.
B. Refine an event poster
Use a readable copy of the existing poster. Decide which two text elements should change before uploading it, and keep the original nearby to check margins and artwork.
Edit the supplied event poster. Change the headline to "OPEN STUDIO" and the time to "Saturday, 2 PM". Preserve the existing illustration, color palette, margins, and overall layout. Keep the revised text clearly readable. Do not add sponsors, logos, dates, or decorative elements that are not already present.
Read the headline and time character by character, including the comma. Then inspect areas outside the requested text changes. Compare spacing, illustration details, and any existing marks. View the poster at its intended display size too; text that looks fine when enlarged may be hard to read on a phone.
C. Create a transparent asset
This task needs no reference image. It is a useful starting point for a small decorative asset to place over another design. Leave enough room around the subject to judge the entire silhouette.
Create a single friendly ceramic fox figurine, shown from a three-quarter view, centered with generous space around it. Use warm terracotta colors and a clean silhouette. The background must be fully transparent, with no solid backdrop, checkerboard pattern, lettering, or floor scene. Return a PNG suitable for placement over another design.
In the actual interface or API, also select supported transparency and output settings. The guide specifies background: "transparent" with output_format: "png" or "webp". After saving, check the alpha channel and place the asset on both dark and light backgrounds to reveal unwanted halos. PNG is a raster image made of pixels, not an editable vector drawing.
What should you check before using the result?
A better model does not make every task better, and more precise editing does not promise that pixels outside a selected area remain permanently unchanged. Judge the delivered file against its intended use rather than the model name.
Start with details that could change the meaning of the image: names, numbers, dates, product features, and a person's identifying characteristics. Then compare the latest revision with both the original and the last approved version. That catches gradual changes that can be hard to notice when viewing only consecutive outputs.
For a stylized image, separate your aesthetic preference from factual correctness. A technically detailed rendering may be less suitable than a simpler one for your design. For delivery, check dimensions, crop, transparent edges, and readability at the final placement size. Keep your approved master separate from resized exports.
